Cathleen Pace Lazor ’88
Field Hockey Star Leads Team During Memorable Season Distinguished as the second female student body president, Cathleen Pace spent her time competing on the field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball teams. She received nine varsity letters, the title of 1988 SCIAA New Jersey Scholar Athlete and is the recipient of the 1988 Pingry School Mothers Association Women’s Sports Award. During her freshman and sophomore years, Cathy became captain of the undefeated junior varsity basketball team and then played on the varsity team. Cathy won the most valuable player award in the Mount Saint Mary’s Christmas Basketball Tournament. Cathy competed on the varsity lacrosse team for three years and was elected team captain her senior year. Her senior season was unfortunately cut short due to an injury early on; however, at the time of her injury she was a leading scorer for New Jersey. Cathy was two-time field hockey captain and most valuable player during her junior and senior years. She led her field hockey team to the Somerset County Field Hockey Tournament finals, where she was one of the leading scorers in the tournament. Cathy’s awards include the 3rd team of The Star-Ledger All-State Field Hockey team, 1st team of the Star-Ledger All-Private Selection, 1st team of the Courier News’ All-Central Jersey Field Hockey Team and 1988 North Jersey All-Star First Team for Independent Schools in field hockey. She was also honored in 1986 as NJISWAA field hockey all-star.
