Nine Varsity Letters, Softball Captain, All-State Prep “A” Field Hockey Team.
After she was selected to the All-State Prep “A” and All-Union County “A” Field Hockey teams in 1977, The Pingry Record said of Leslie T. Campbell “78, “Besides being extremely versatile as an athlete, Leslie also displayed good game sense and an ability to work with others both on and off the playing field. All of these qualities made Leslie, in the eyes of coaches, players, and spectators alike, one of the team’s major assets.” Campbell played Varsity field hockey her sophomore through senior years and earned a letter in each year.
Campbell also played basketball and softball, earning three letters in each. She was thrice captain of the softball team. On the hardwood, she was also a leader and played a critical role in Pingry’s stunning upset of Montclair-Kimberley Academy on March 10, 1978.
After Pingry, Campbell excelled on the playing fields of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the Varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams, as well as the Junior Varsity basketball and badminton teams. For the UPENN lacrosse team, she was named most improved player in 1980, selected to the All-Ivy lacrosse and All-Tournament lacrosse teams in 1982 and was tri-captain of the UPENN team that same year.
