Pingry Wrestler Pins A “Terrific” Winning Record.
Thomas “Tom” Kendall liked setting records. A member of the Pingry wrestling team, he was the school’s first All-State wrestler and earned First Team All-State accolades during his senior year.
His westling record is nothing short of stellar. Tom set records for best individual season during his junior year (18-0), most pin in a season during his junior year (14), most dual meet points (64) [he held this title for three straight years], three-year dual meet point total record (179) and best overall career record (57-5).
Tom placed second in the state tournament twice and finished his junior year as a state champion, pinning every opponent in the tournament.
Appropriately referred to in The Pingry Record as “Tom ‘Terrific’ Kendall,” Tom also excelled on the football and baseball teams at Pingry. He was instrumental in leading his teams to success, serving as a co-captain for football his senior year and the catcher on the baseball team for three years. Tom earned Third Team All-Union County and Third Team All-State Prep honors in both football and baseball.
After graduating from Pingry, Tom attended the University of Pennsylvania where he made the varsity wrestling team as a freshman. He played lacrosse in his freshman and sophomore years as a walk-on with an incredibly talented team. Tom’s participation in athletics as a life experience created a passion for exploring the merits and challenges of sports through active involvement in coach and organizing youth teams after college.
