Richard E. Thomas II ’62
1962 Centennial Cup Winner Excels In Football, Swimming and Lacrosse. Few Pingry athletes achieve as much in athletics as Richard Thomas has, earning ten Varsity letters in football, swimming and lacrosse. He is a three time member of the Pingry Athletic Hall of Fame. On the football field, Thomas earned one freshman and three Varsity letters. Hs willingness to run the extra yard helped the 1961 football team become the sixth undefeated team in Pingry history. In the pool, Rich earned four Varsity letters and the captaincy his senior year. He tied the school record for the 100 yard breaststroke junior year and helped break the 200 yard medley relay record. Thomas proved his athletic prowess once again on the lacrosse field, defeating all college freshman opponents his junior year. By his senior year, Richard became part of the All Tri-State Conference Lacrosse. Thomas’ athletic success followed him to Princeton as a member of the freshman football and freshman and Varsity swimming and lacrosse teams. While in the Army, Rich was a member of the MACTHAI volleyball team, played soccer for the US/Australia/British Army team and was a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Rich is now Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Databuilt, Inc., and has served Pingry as a teacher, coach and administrator.
