Soccer Sensation Is Pingry’s All Time Offensive Star. Varsity soccer captain Sean O’Donnell is known in Pingry history by many names: “Mighty” Sean O’Donnell, the Lucky Leprechaun, Sean “Sensation” O’Donnell. These title were well earned as Sean is considered one of the top soccer players ever to be a Pingry Booter. During his junior year, Sean was a member of the 2nd Team All County Soccer and 1st Team All Prep soccer teams. He became captain of the Pingry Varsity soccer team in his senior year and led the team to both the Union County Championship and the State Soccer Championship. After breaking his own career scoring record and Pingry soccer’s single season scoring record, Sean was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player. Sea was also named to the 1st Team All County Teams. Sean’s remarkable soccer career continued as the University of Pennsylvania where he earned four Varsity letters. He was the first freshman to play Varsity soccer at U. Penn and was voted freshman player of the year. During his junior year at U. Penn, he was both the team leading scorer and the second leading scorer in the Ivy League. In his senior year, Sean became captain of the U. Penn soccer team, Penn’s career leading scorer, and was made a member of the United States Olympic Soccer Team Pool. Sean has been a class agent for Pingry since 1981. He has also served as a member of the Pingry Alumni Association Board for 15 years.
