Ralph W. Kunzmann ’82
Pingry’s All Star Goalie for Soccer, Hockey and Lacrosse. Ralph Kunzmann was one of Pingry’s triple threats: a defensive player for soccer, hockey and lacrosse as well as captain for each. Ralph earned a remarkable eight Pingry Varsity letters and statewide recognition for his abilities. As co-captain of Varsity soccer his junior and senior years, Ralph displayed leadership and excellence, and his senior year performance on the soccer field led to a 14-2-3 record, due in great part to Ralph’s eleven shutouts. The Pingry soccer team became Prep School Co-Champions, and Ralph was named to the All County Soccer Team. Ralph was also a marvel on the ice as the four year goalie for Pingry’s hockey team. Sophomore year Ralph was named All State goalie. He was co-captain his junior year and led Pingry to a State Prep Championship with thirty-six saves in the final game. As captain senior year, Pingry competed in the Minnesota Breck School Tournament and Ralph was selected as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for his 75 saves in two games. Ralph excelled at lacrosse and was selected as captain of the New Jersey Lacrosse All Star team and was the first goalie in the division to score a goal. Ralph attended Lake Forest College where he continued to play soccer, hockey and lacrosse. In 1996, Ralph was inducted in the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame for his 12 Varsity letters and two-time Most Valuable Players awards.
