Five-Letter Athlete Excels In Multiple Sports. William “Bill” Prevost earned five varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball while at Pingry. “Nearly impossible to stop on defense and offense,” Bill received First Team All-State football tackle position honors and honorable mention for All-Union County football award during his senior year. His “deceptive moves, fine hands, and inconspicuousness” as an offensive and defensive tackler, punter, and kick-off kicker, helped guide his team to a 6-1 season record. Bill’s height and strength made him a key rebound and clutch man as the sixth man center on the varsity basketball team. During his junior year, Bill made his mark on the baseball team with a grand slam home run against Newark Academy. After graduating from Pingry, Bill attended Trinity College where he earned a total of five varsity letters in swimming and lacrosse. He was a varsity diver and freestyle sprinter, but particularly set himself apart in lacrosse. In his senior year, Bill was co-captain of the team and earned MVP honors. Among his other lacrosse accolades, he was voted First-Team All-New England, All-Northeast defenseman, and honorable mention All-America. Bill was the starting crease defenseman in his senior year in the North-South All-Star game and held the nation’s leading goal scorer from scoring in a 9-6 victory by his North team. Bill’s passion for and skill in lacrosse earned him MVP honors from the New Jersey Lacrosse Club and was also selected for the U.S. Club Lacrosse All-Star teams. After college, he became actively involved in coaching and organizing youth lacrosse teams.
